School Has Started!

Today is Morgan's first day of 4th grade! She's moved up to middle school now, so she's no longer one of the big kids at school. Her school also starts at 7:30 in the morning, which is much different than last year when they started at 8:50. I'm sure she had a great day even though she was upset that none of her friends were in her class...Morgan can make friends with anyone. The End

Well it took me about 14 hours to read, but it's now complete. I read all day yesterday and a few hours this evening to finish and now I'm so sad to have no more to read. I'm not going to spoil anything, but it was a really good book. I preordered Julian a copy, too, and he is now halfway finished. If you haven't read any of the books, I highly suggest it. The series is so addictive to read!

Claire Alexandra Litchfield

We finally got to meet Baby Claire!! Yvette and Brian were in town recently and they had Claire with them, so Morgan and I stopped by the Litchfield house for a quick visit. She's so cute!! She looks a lot like Yvette's mom Mrs. Barbara. And look at that head of hair! She was almost a month old in these pictures and has more hair than Morgan had at the age of 2!

He's Baaaaccccckkkkk!

Julian arrived on June 30th and so far has hung out with his friends on more than one occassion, gone to a Zephyr's game, been swimming, went to see Transformers, worked on the duplex in Lakeview, gone to Uncle Leon's camp on the Jourdan River in Mississippi and fought with Morgan. Not bad for only being here a week and a half! I think we'll be hitting the movies this weekend since Harry Potter comes out on Wednesday and we're both big fans!

Morgan wanted to make this sign for him...word to the wise--don't EVER buy glitter glue pens from a dollar store. It took all my strength and over an hour to get the stuff out of the tubes.

A New 'Do

I took Morgan to get her hair cut and what started off being a little trim ended up being layers with long bangs. She started looking through magazines while we were waiting and found one of Jennifer Love Hewitt that she liked. So now it's to her shoulders, slightly layered, with long bangs.

Junior Tour Part 2

Morgan had her 2nd Junior Tour tournament yesterday at Riverlands Country Club and she did really well again! She shot a 61 and was very pleased with her 4th place finish. She was only 2 shots off making 3rd place, so maybe next time! She played with Angelica, whose birthday, as we found out, is a day after Morgan's. Angelica and her 5 brothers and sisters have all been playing golf since they were four and there are 4 or 5 of them playing in the Junior Tour. She was very sweet and gave Morgan a few pointers and she even came in 1st for yesterday's tournament. We have the next one in two weeks, so I'm sure we'll be practicing in the meantime. I think we've played golf every weekend for about a month!

Junior Tour

The Fore!Kids Foundation has a Junior Tour every summer for kids aged 9-22. It introduces them to tournament play and Morgan wanted to join in on the fun. She played 9 holes at Abita Springs Golf Club this morning and shot a 65. She did a great job and can't wait for next week's tournament at Riverlands.

Congrats Mallory!!!

Just found out today that Mallory was offered a job to teach Middle School English at St. Benilde School, which by the way, is where she, Morgan, Kirk and I all went to school at one time or another. She actually went from Kindergarten to 8th grade there. Yeah, Mallory!!!!

It was that time again...time for the yearly dance recital! Since we live on the Northshore and Morgan goes to school on this side, we said goodbye to Dance Co. Ltd. and moved over to Golden Girl Dance Studio, which was very convenient. It's a VERY small dancing school with only 2 or 3 classes and I have to say this was the easiest recital I've ever been through. It lasted all of 45 minutes and was not hectic at all. Thanks to Ms. Debra for a great year and congrats to Morgan on her 7th year of dancing!!!

Morgan's Rite of Passage

Since Morgan finished 3rd grade, she will now be headed to big, bad Middle School! Her school held a Rite of Passage ceremony, which is very similar to a graduation. Morgan was so nervous though that she threw up when she got to school. They almost didn't let her participate, but we convinced the principal it was nerves and she let her "graduate" with the rest of the class.

Off to Kidsports!

We went to my wonderful godchild's 4th birthday party this weekend. It was at Kidsports at Elmwood. Morgan had a great time doing gymnastics for everyone. She is quite the gymnast!

I was the "awesome best friend" and got Sherry backstage to meet Better Than Ezra. I was hanging out with them all day - which included getting their >$1000 worth of food and drinks that they requested. They even requested red or blue plastic cups - not clear ones :) I guess you can do that when you're famous!

Are You Tired of Seeing My Birthday Cake??!!

Ok, so I have been quite busy in the last month. I know you all must be VERY TIRED of seeing my "golden birthday" cake. I know Sherry was tired of seeing it! Anyway, if you look at Sherry's blog, you will see what I was doing in April. It mainly consisted of planning the Zurich Classic and being fantastic at my "Player Relations" job! You don't even want to hear about the jokes I got by having that title :)

Happy Golden Birthday to Me!

Last Thursday was my 29th birthday, which meant it was my Golden Birthday!! I had a great day...other than having to go into work. Kirk sent me flowers and Sherry sent me a cookie bouquet, then I met Morgan and Kirk at Trey Yuen for dinner. When we got home, they had an ice cream cake for me (mint chocolate chip ice cream and chocolate cake...yummy)! I also got a new golf club from them and my parents and sister gave me a new watch. Not a bad Golden Birthday!!

Demo Day

On Tuesday our Lakeview house was finally demolished. It only took a year and a half for all the paperwork to finally go through. We still have to go to court with Allstate on August 30th, which is exactly 2 years to the day our house flooded.

For some reason, Kirk wanted to post these pictures, so I apologize if they gross anyone out. After going to the ER this morning at 5:30, Kirk found out he had a very severe case of Poison Oak. It was so bad that his throat was actually swelling. He got an IV of steroids and is now on a regular dose of it. He's doing MUCH better and his face isn't so swollen anymore. He can also see out of both eyes again. Thanks for all the phone calls and get well wishes!

I know it's been a long time since I last posted on here, so this will just be a recap in pictures. With only 4 weeks left until the Zurich Classic, my life has been pretty much revolving around work. We've been through Mardi Gras, a school performance, another conference in Arizona, St.Patrick's Parade and now Kirk has either poison ivy or poison oak. It's pretty gross looking so beware of the picture!

My grandfather passed away yesterday. I was on my way to work when I got the phone call. Pawpaw had just gotten out of the hospital two days prior but wasn't doing well. Luckily my dad was still in town and was able to visit with him for the past few weeks. If you don't know, my dad comes from a rather large family. My grandparents have been married for 67 years and they have 17 children (my dad is the 2nd oldest). I have about 54 first cousins just on my dad's side. I found out that my grandmother had told Pawpaw it was ok for him to go and that she would be ok. About 20 minutes later, he took his last breath. It was a hard day for all of us. Please keep my family in your prayers.

Tuesday was our last day to hit the slopes and since we still had the snowboards, that's what we were going to do. After a few quick warm-up runs on the small Sweet Pea slope, we took the lift up to the green trail again. My first run down included many falls, but I was finally starting to get the hang of it. By the end of the day and 6 runs later, I was almost a pro...yeah, right! But I was down to two or three falls instead of one every few feet. If we had one more day, I'm sure I'd being able to go down without falling. They say it takes a good 3 days to get good at snowboarding. I wanted to see if they were right. I can say that if you are going to try snowboarding, make sure to wear LOTS of padding and get a helmet. Oh, and expect to be VERY sore and have lots of bruises.

Snowboarding Day 1

We decided to turn in our skis and poles for snowboards. Yes, we're crazy but we wanted to learn. It looks much easier than skiing, but once you strap that board on, it's pretty difficult. We went to snowboard school on Monday and learned how to skate on the board and then how to use our heel and toe edges to help us control our speed and move the board along. All was fine on the little Sweet Pea slope, even though there were many falls and landing in the snow. But at the end of the day we moved over to the green trail, and let's just say, I didn't quite make it down as easily as I thought I would. Kirk actually did much better than I did...he made it all the way down the trail. After that day, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to or wanted to continue with boarding, but many people told us you had to give it at least 2 or 3 days.
